TVCA Commuter Challenge
Do you want to do something that is good for you, good for the community, and good for the environment? Considering a bicycle to improve your commute this summer? Sign up for the TVCA Commuter Challenge!
We have an incentive for you. Starting Monday, May 19, every time you bike to work/school or use your bike instead of a car for an errand, record it on our Web site at www.biketreasurevalley.org/challenge. On August 1, we’ll take a tally to see which commuter made the most trips by bicycle, who commuted the most miles, and who logged the greatest number of days without using a car. Grand prizes include a BOB trailer. The winners will be announced at the Tour de Fat event in Boise. But first you have to sign up for the challenge.
To participate, just register on our website and use our Contact form to let us know that you have accepted the challenge. If you have already sent in the Challenge registration form or registered during Boise Bike Week, then you are all set. If you were previously registered on the TVCA website, you still need to contact us and let us know that you have accepted the challenge. Beginning May 19 2008, check back here and keep a log of your bike trips. It's that simple.
General Rules:
- You must log your trips at least once a week. No fair waiting until the last minute and dumping everything in all at once. In fact, the logging system won't even accept any entries that are more than a week old.
- For the purposes of the challenge, a trip is defined as riding from one location to another. So for example, if you ride from home to work and back home again, that's two trips. If on your way home you stop by the grocery store, that's three trips (home -> work, work -> store, store -> home).
- Only trips made by bicycle within the Treasure Valley count. We're the Treasure Valley Cycling Alliance.
- Winners will be determined by the TVCA judges after reviewing the logs at the end of the Challenge. If your log claims that you are doing 100 miles a day every day, we'll probably at least raise an eyebrow.
- Decisions of the TVCA judges are final.
